Design Philosophy

In addition to ensuring beautiful lines of hull and superstructure, all our designs meet the following requirements: · Safety · Performance · Comfort.

The entire design process starts and ends with safety and there is no room for compromise here. Safety means sufficient stability, a well thought out construction and easy rig handling. Extensive calculations of these criteria ensure compliance with current CE norms.

The designer’s greatest challenge is to give the yacht good performance characteristics. Today’s advanced computer programs enable the designer to predict performance during the design stage. This makes it possible to find the optimal relationship between stability, displacement, hull shape and rig within each specific concept.

When designing a sailing yacht it is important to be aware of the ergonomic criteria. In other words, to design the objects and spaces in such a way that the people who use them experience maximum comfort and minimum nuisance, both while sailing and in the harbour.

For the designer to strive successfully for the SSC-criteria (Safety, Speed and Comfort) the use of advanced computer programs is essential, as is good knowledge of materials and the ability to identify with the end user. That is why it will always be a challenge to make a new design witin set criteria.
