In Dalian / China, hard work is underway on the TEN2. Due to large orders for the other DC types, the development of the building moulds was halted for some time, but now all moulds for the interior parts are ready and the first interior parts have also been produced. Hull, bulkheads and interior parts are assembled and now the technical part begins, such as the electrics, engine installation, fuel tank, and the water ballast system. Because China is still closed due to Covid, we also have to check the building process with only the photos, but these photos look promising.
In Dalian (China), the Dalian Changmei Pleasure Boat company is building 50 DC29’s and several TEN2’s for a Hong Kong customer. The first 10 boats must be delivered before 2022. We designed the DC29 (design number 177) in 2019 in a touring and racing version. The TEN2 (design number 182) is a new design, where the molds are currently being finalized. The yard from Dalian already built the last 12 years several of our designs, such as the TEN, the DC22, the DC12, the DC15 and the DC20.

For a planned single-handed race in China with 6 boats we have made a proposal for a suitable boat for that. We have adapted the existing TEN with water ballast, a type of sprayhood, an autopilot, a central navigation unit and a rack for a liferaft, including a radar. All sheetsts, halyards and trimming lines were already centrally located around the cabin entree and only the backstay cleats are moved forward.
From 17 to 25 March, the Hainan-regatta is sailed near and round the Chinese island. The races are part inshore and part offshore. The offshore race is a race around the island with a stopover in Sanya. Three Ten’s (design 147) were racing, and team Yomovo (San Ya You Mu Hu) and team Sunrise (SMW) both finished second in their class IRC3 and IRC5. https://www.yacht-design.nl/designs/ten/
Hainan regatta 2017 on the Ten. Reaching 12-16 knots

During the last ChinaCup ‘Team Yomovo’ won the ChinaCup2016 in the IRC-C division. The first race from Hong Kong to Shenzhen was canceled because there was no wind and also the short upwind/downwind races on the Friday were canceled. On Saturday, three races were sailed in 20kts wind and on Sunday two races in 10kts wind. Team Yomovo, skippered by Martin Hingst scored three 1st places and two 2nd places. Team Yomovo is sailing in TEN (design 147).
In October, we sailed the ChinaCup in Shenzhen. Four TEN’s were racing and it was the first race for the Farnova 60. The ChinCup is a great event which is well organized. The first day started with a race from the Hong Kong Royal Yacht Club in Hong Kong to the racing area at the east side of Shenzhen.
Day 2 and 3 we had six upwind downwind races and the last day, there was a round the island race. The competitors are international and the level of sailing is good. Every day there was a price giving in the Sheraton hotel.
