Big order for Chinese boatyard

In Dalian (China), the Dalian Changmei Pleasure Boat company is building 50 DC29’s and several TEN2’s for a Hong Kong customer. The first 10 boats must be delivered before 2022. We designed the DC29 (design number 177) in 2019 in a touring and racing version. The TEN2 (design number 182) is a new design, where the molds are currently being finalized. The yard from Dalian already built the last 12 years several of our designs, such as the TEN, the DC22, the DC12, the DC15 and the DC20.

The Saffier Se33 Life is launched

At the beginning of October, the Saffier Se33 Life was launched and the first sea trials took place. After the Saffier Se37 Lounge and Saffier Se27 Leisure, the Saffier Se33 Life is the latest boat in the range designed by Satellite Yacht Design and Dean and Dennis Hennevanger. The result is a recognizable daysailer, which can easily be sailed by one person, but which also has everything for sporty and comfortable sailing.

The Saffier Se33 Life is, as described above, a continuation of the Se37 and Se27, but again with new gadgets, such as an integrated folding anchor and an integrated retractable swim ladder. Furthermore, all gadgets are also present on this boat, such as all halyards and trim lines below deck to central winches in the cockpit, a good comfortable seat behind the steering wheels, cup holders, a refrigerator flush mounted in the aft deck, a spacious entrance to the cabin and the chic spacious interior, where every comfort is present, such as a refrigerator, espresso machine, a 1-burner electric cooking facility, a sink, a toilet and good seats and beds. Indirect lighting provides an atmospheric ambiance in both the cockpit and the interior.

There are two interior versions, the couple version and the family version. One has a closed toilet room and a galley at the cabin entrance and the rest is completely open. The other version has a galley by the main bulkhead, with a toilet aft of the galley.

The Saffier Se33 has been nominated for European Boat of the Year, for which the boat will be tested by the international press in the autumn in Barcelona. All information about the Saffier Se33 can be found on the Saffier Yachts website.

Sine Metu 41 / Turning of the Hull

Last week in Sneek the hard chine hull of the Sine Metu 41 was turned at Koopmans Kasko’s. This 41-footer is designed by Satellite Yacht Design and delivered completely in 3d drawing to a company that converted the parts into a plate package. Koopmans assembled the hull in a month.

Saffier Se33 Life nominated for ‘European Boat of the year 2022’

After the Saffier Se37 and the Saffier Se27, this year the Saffier Se33 Life has been nominated for European boat of the year 2022. Last week, journalists from renowned sailing magazines announced the nominations. The shipyard in IJmuiden is working hard to make the prototype of the brand new Saffier Se33 Life ready to sail. In October 2021, the Saffier Se33 Life will participate in the seatrial event in Barcelona and the judges will test all the nominated yachts. The winners of the ‘European Boat of the Year Awards’ will be announced at BOOT Düsseldorf in January 2022. The design of this yacht was also created by Satellite Yacht Design and the Hennevanger brothers.

Koopmans Kasko’s starts building of the Sine Metu 41

In August 2021, the preparations for the construction of the Sine Metu 41 started at Koopmans Kasko’s in Sneek. The pre-cutted aluminium plates of this multi-chine sailing yacht arrived in the first week of September and the aluminium yacht will be assembled in the coming months. The Sine Metu 41 will have a retractable keel, twin rudders and an electric drive.

Saffier Yachts presents the new Saffier Se33 Life

The Dutch boatbuilder Saffier Yachts introduce a new 33 feet sailing yacht in the elegance range. We’re proud to be involved in the design and development of this new yacht. After the new Saffier Se37 and the Saffier Se27 the new Saffier Se33 will replace the existing 33ft. The key features of the new Saffier Se33 Life are:

Saffier Se27 / European Boat of the Year 2021

In the ‘Special Yachts’ category, the Saffier Se27 has been voted as ‘European Yacht of the Year 2021’. 19 boats were nominated in 5 categories and 3 boats were nominated in the ‘Special Yachts’ category. The awards have grown to include 12 judges from sailing magazines across Europe, each leading voices on boat testing in their respective countries. The Netherlands was represented by Marinus van Sijdenborgh de Jong of sailing magazine ‘Zeilen’. The yachts are all tested during trials which took place in Kiel, Cannes and La Rochelle last Autumn. The result is the largest, most influential and widely respected boatbuilding prize worldwide.
Normally the awards would be presented at a special event during the opening evening of the Dusseldorf Boat Show in January. This year it was a virtual presentation on Friday Januari 2021.

The jury report was full of praise: The evolution of Saffier Yachts. The day sailor is just as fast and well-balanced as a pure racing yacht and in the right hands reveals even more qualities. At the same time, the boat is also provided with the comfort of a luxury yacht – as far as it fits just 27 feet. The boat has a simplicity and finesse, which is unique to the market. Developed to the maximum, refined to perfection; a winner pur sang.

The current Saffier’s are developed by Dean and Dennis Hennevanger and Satellite Yacht Design. It is fantastic and a great honor when this work results in such a prestigious award.
